With Illustrator and Author Franz MH Bomberg.
Help us decorate our grand Christmas tree in the museum's foyer! This Christmas, we offer a free workshop for children, where you can create your very own Christmas ornaments that reflect what home means to you. You free to bring your creations home as well or delight someone you care about with a personalized gift.
Drawing inspiration from the current exhibition on Thorvaldsen's homecoming, we contemplate what "home" truly means. Thorvaldsen, as a boy in a poor working-class family, experienced many different homes during his childhood in Copenhagen. Later, as a sculptor, he settled in Rome for approximately 40 years. Many looked forward to Thorvaldsen coming home again – but what is home, exactly? Is it a place? A thing? A feeling?
Bertel Thorvaldsen loved Christmas and Christmas games, no matter where he celebrated it! In the festive spirit of Thorvaldsen, we create unique Christmas ornaments for the tree, based on what "home" means to each of you.
Illustrator Franz Bomberg will draw and tell stories from 11:00 to 11:30, followed by an open workshop from 11:30 to 12:30 and again from 13:00 to 13:30, followed by a workshop from 13:30 to 14:30.
